Roads? Where we're going, we don't need ROADS!

Ha! Thought I'd reference "Back to the Future", my old favorite.  I really am talking about roads.
If you've never driven in (at least NORTH Yorkshire) England, let me paint you a little picture.  Imagine very narrow back, and somewhat bumpy roads with no center line, an occasional speed limit drop to 30 mph when coming to a little town, 90% of the time a speed limit of 60mph (the national speed limit for these roads), sharp turns, some hills that you go down or up that have up to 15% down or upgrade, manure in the road in some places, drivers, who are familiar with the roads, speeding around, and sometimes driving in the middle of the roads, sheep, who have gotten out of their stone walls, blocking your path, dumb (but beautiful) pheasants who don't react at ALL to a car speeding at them, LOTS of people who like to travel on this narrow road on foot, bike, or horseback (watch for them around curves!) and THAT, my friend, is our normal drive to the base.  Al has to drive it at least to and from every day, and I drive it often too.  Nothing like it! I'm so used to these roads now that I know where to speed up and slow down, but no matter how much you've driven them, you always have to be alert for random people, animals, or sometimes come to a halt (from 40mph!) so that the other car (or farm equipment) can go past you. Fun stuff!
