ISSUES

Ok, I am not the one with issues, but this blog is aptly named.

So I won't vaccinate Aly-mostly everyone that knows me knows that.  I haven't really run into any problems, except for a slight hiccup today. I don't know if my hiccup can be resolved, but I will be writing a letter regardless.

I tried to enroll Aly in CDC (day-care through the military)--I was able to get a waiver for her vaccine requirements at our last (Army) base, but the Air Force does not allow children to be enrolled in the CDC without Vaccines.  I held down my emotions and asked politely who I can talk to about this, only to be told it is not "THIS base" but the "AIR FORCE's regulations".  I can tell the 2 ladies I was talking to were trying not to be rude and I give them their props.  I was trying as well, so I said, "well, is there someone I can write to about this? Because I don't think that this is fair-just because I studied vaccinations and opted [as a free American] not to give my kid shots, I am missing out on the military's prime child-care." So they gave me the name of a Captain and told me that he couldn't change the regulation-that only someone in Washington could.  I don't care who, but someone should change it, and I will find out who to write to.

The bottom line is that my husband serves this country in the military. We, as Americans, are free to be able to make choices  about our children's health.  The military owes my husband, and his family, their basic services and benefits because as a service-member, he belongs to them-they need to take care of him.  These services and benefits are, among other things, child-care.  They owe us child-care.

Oh well. If worse comes to worse, i will look for child-care off base, but someone in Washington will be getting a letter. ;-)
