This story will go down in Aly history!
On Sunday night, I brought Aly in with me to church. She's been doing a wonderful job keeping herself quiet and busy in church, and she has bad separation anxiety. Normally the nursery will page me to retrieve her because she won't stop crying. With all of our activity, and traveling, I can't blame her.
Anyway, I sat in the back of the church, cause my mom didn't want people around us to be disturbed if Aly decided to act out. The church on Sunday night was very full-like with 400 people or so (that's my guesstimate) and Aly was behaving SO well the whole service. The sermon was about Revelation. The pastor was saying how we as Christians need to look up, waiting for the coming of Christ and---- all of a sudden--- all of the fire emergency alarms went off! There were strobe lights flashing all around the church and a voice saying, "attention, attention, there has been an emergency reported inside the building, please make your way to the nearest exit" over and over.
I had a "sick" feeling that i knew who caused it....see, just a moment earlier, I had picked Aly up--and I know she reached behind my shoulder and grabbed something. YEP. The Fire alarm! The pastor thought it might be a real emergency, and didn't know what to do--I could see he was preparing to evacuate us. I just had a mental picture of us all leaving the church, and me keeping my mouth shut. Obviously, that wasn't an option. I told the guy next to us, and thankfully he yelled up to the pastor what happened. All eyes turned to us--well, to little Aly, who stood in front of me, completely oblivious to the fact that she had just caused that chaos. Talk about embarassing!
Well, I guess these things are bound to happen sometimes, eh?
